Genealogy of Rustico & Area Acadian Families

The Farmers’ Bank of Rustico Museum has a large collection of genealogical information collected by Theresa Gallant over a number of years.

There are various records and local histories – including photocopies of St. Augustine’s Church (1812-1907), St. Ann’s Church (1881-1900) and St. Anne de Restigouche Church Registers (1860-1870); binders of Family Sheets; indexes of births, marriages and deaths; Parish Histories for St. Augustine’s Church, St. Ann’s Church and Stella Maris Church, etc.; Cemetery Transcripts with cards of tombstones; various Census Records; old maps of the area + Meacham’s 1880 Atlas and Cummins 1928 Atlas; a variety of Leases and Wills and more.

There are Books on Acadians by various authors: Bona Arsenault, J. Henri Blanchard, Patrice Gallant, Stephen White, Jean Bernard, Georges Arsenault and more.

If you have an Acadian Rustico connection and you are interested in exploring it, make an appointment by calling Theresa Gallant at 902-963-2416 or emailing her at to decide on a suitable time to meet. Since Theresa volunteers at the Museum, you may happen to meet her there by chance. If you give her enough information, she can go back to your earlier ancestors and/or find some of your descendants who may still be living in the area.

There will be a fee charged for an appointment based on the search required and the number of photocopies made.
