Artefacts

Description: Woven Fabric. This ancient hand-woven fabric fragment was found stuffed between the log of the 1772 Doucet House. It’s made of wool and thread and measures approximately 12.7cm by 2.4cm. From this tiny piece of fabric we had a local weaver, Ann Marie Buote, recreate the colors and pattern into a reproduction fabric which we used in our period costumes.

The artefacts collection held at Farmers Bank of Rustico Museums are kept in a heated and climate-controlled facility. Artefacts are accessioned and stored to Museum Standards. The large part of our collection is posted on Artefacts Canada; as well as the Digital Museum of Canada, Community Stories.
